From here the touring party headed south to Perpignan for a further 2 matches against French elite squads as well as visiting the Super League Club - “Catalans Dragons” training venue and sporing facilities.
The voyage then headed eastward towards Avignon for a further 2 nights and 2 matches against the regional Provence teams …. Sights along the trip from the start included Paris and city centre, Disneyland Paris, Barcelona, Perpignan, Carcassonne, Avignon, Monte Carlo and Monaco.
The final leg had us travel to the Australian Institute of Sport at Givrate and played in Brescia against 2 teams from the U18’s representative level. We then headed south to Rome for a final 2 days and took in the City, the Colosseum and the Papal State.
The Australian Embassies in both Paris and Rome hosted the team of 35 players and 45 staff and parents at memorable sites in both capital cities.
Catalans Sports Tours were our inbound travel company that organized the travel, accommodation, matches against the host nations and was completed without a hitch.
The planning period commenced 18 months out of the tour and every point was meticulously carried out by the tour director David Foti.
All the players and staff did say that it was an incident free trip due to the planning and preparations completed by Catalans Sports tours. We would certainly recommend to you using Catalans Tours, due to their network and experience in delivering such adventures for your young men/women on the trip of a life time.
8 matches played for 8 victories ….. We were delighted with the tour and will continue to use David Foti and his team for our future tours to Europe.
David Foti and Catalans Sports Tours provided Warrington Collegiate with an organised two week residential in St Cyprien, South of France. The trip was for the Level 3 Btec Sports students who were within the Rugby League academy at Warrington Collegiate.
Within the package there was opportunity to play against and train with a number of local French RL clubs and had the opportunity to play a curtain raiser prior to the Catalans Dragons super league fixture. In addition, the students were provided with daily opportunities to coach youngsters from the local amateur clubs, it was a fantastic work experience, implementing their coaching ability in unfamiliar surroundings and with the challenge of the language barrier. The students gained an awful lot of life skills and visibly grew with confidence in each new situation.
David is clearly a very well connected person within the Rugby League world in Catalans and could not have been more accommodating with any request we had. Transfers each day to training, playing and the cultural trips were well organised and efficient allowing everyone on the tour to enjoy the whole experience. In addition to the Rugby League focus on the tour, David organised a number of cultural trips highlighting a number of historical sites including PALAIS DU MAJORCA AND CHATEAU DE SALSES
I would recommend Catalans Sports Tours without reservation, we are already planning our 2017 trip!" RYAN MCNEELY
